For the first of our two Solid Gold Suppers, Honey Week's founding farmers at Brooklyn Grange will host us at their Navy Yard rooftop, where their good buds from The Meat Hook will cook an unforgettable feast of playful, unpretentious food that will knock your socks off. Guests will watch the sun set over the Manhattan skyline amidst towering tomato plants and sunflowers while sipping on Patron's favorite Tequila cocktails, prepared by Bettina Barnoczki. Then, it's to the table, where Chef Gil Calderon of The Meat Hook and Meat Hook Sandwich will serve up some of the freshest, most sustainably raised food of our fine region.
Have you been to Meat Hook Sandwich? These are folks with sharp palates and a wry sense of humor. Having worked at Diner, Roberta's and Clover Club, Chef Gil is no stranger to fine dining, but for this Solid Gold Supper, he's planning a menu that will be more about good company gathering in appreciation for the regional harvest than fussy fare. Patron Tequila will continue to fuel the festivities with libations thoughtfully paired to complement each course. Look, we here in New York City are all busy bees, but once in a while, we should take the time to appreciate the sweet, sweet nectar that this amazing city has to offer. And when some of the most lauded chefs in town ditch their kitchen for the night to serve up a supper you can't get on any other day of the year atop a rooftop farm oasis, with the finest Tequila flowing freely, we will shake our honeymakers on over. Meet you there?
